Career Highlights:

I have published six books and over one hundred academic articles. In addition to my position at UNCW, I am also a doctorate dissertation supervisor for the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. I co-founded a biotechnology firm in 1988 and have been an angel investor for the past 10 years with the Wilmington Investor Network. I have been on the faculty of Purdue University and the University of California and have also taught at universities in Taiwan, Scotland, South Korea, Mexico and Italy.

    The nature and structure of international markets and competition as well as country risk analysis. Various international strategies, such as exporting, foreign direct investment, licensing, and strategic partnerships. International diversification and vertical integration. The process of international intellectual property protection and technology strategies.

    Love of learning and increasing the body of knowledge.

    Understanding that the content of the UNCW online program is identical to a face-to-face program.

    The Mystery of Capital by Hernando de Soto (Peruvian economist)

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know.

    Prior to my current academic career, was a gold miner for two years and co-owned a small coastal freighter in Belize. Played banjo in an old timey country band in college.
