About UNCW

Established in 1947 as Wilmington College, the state’s coastal university opened its doors for veterans returning from World War II that year. More than 75 years later, UNCW is a top national institution with nearly 18,000 students, more than 2,500 faculty and staff, over 170 buildings and an ever-growing alumni network of more than 100,000.
As a part of the 17-campus UNC System, UNCW offers a range of baccalaureate- and graduate-level programs and doctorate degrees. The university also offers accelerated online courses, including an RN to BSN program and an Executive MBA program. The flexible and affordable online programs were designed with working professionals in mind.
