Survey of the basic concepts, theories, and techniques for the management of operating systems. Development of concepts and decision processes critical to short-run and long range organizational decision making. Topics include product and process design, operations planning, project management, inventory management, capacity planning, quality and scheduling.

This course covers principles of micro and macroeconomics. The initial focus is on an analysis of decision making processes and economic equilibrium for consumers and individual firms. Also covered is basic data and measurements used in describing the macro economy.

A broad survey of finance concerned with the money-management decisions of the individual and the firm. Study includes the tools and terms that the corporate and individual financial manager employs as he or she conducts his or her financial affairs. Value-creation for the firm, the use of financial statements, the importance of cash flows, the measurement of risk, investment decision-making, the use of the securities and derivatives markets, asset-pricing models, estimating value of income-producing assets and international financial issues will be reviewed. These topics and the foundation we build in this course will be supplemented with regular reference to contemporary issues in finance.

MIS 561: Cybersecurity Essentials and Analytics

This course provides a rapid and intensive overview of foundational cybersecurity topics and concepts as well as the use of data analytics addressing information security issues and incident response. The course will provide students with familiarization and basic, high-level understanding of the fundamental concepts of cybersecurity; provide students with the basic security design principles that are needed to create systems that are worthy of being trusted; and provide students with familiarization and basic, high-level understanding of the components in an IT system and the roles of those components in system operation. The course will have an emphasis on network security using basic network analysis tools and sophisticated security analytics tools
MIS 562: Cybersecurity Strategy and Program Management
Duration: 7 weeks : Credit Hours: 3
Provides students with a framework of what is needed to design, develop and manage an effective cybersecurity program. The course focuses on the cybersecurity policies and planning required for organizations. Students will discuss strategic organizational planning for a cybersecurity program and its relationships with organization-wide and IT strategic planning. Students will gain the experience and knowledge necessary to execute cybersecurity plans, develop cybersecurity leadership skills, create information security policies, and communicate cybersecurity policies and programs across departments. This course aligns with the specific outcomes and topics required to satisfy the following knowledge units (KUs): Cybersecurity planning and Management (CPM) and parts of the Security Program Management (SPM) and Policy, Legal, Ethics, and Compliance (PLE) from the NSA/DHS Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) program. It also covers some of the topics from the GIAC strategic planning, policy and leadership certification (GSTRT) and the NICE Framework Oversight & Development: Security Program Management. It also draws on outcomes from an additional KU (Security Risk Analysis) related to key managerial aspects of cybersecurity.
