Career Highlights:
I joined the faculty of the Cameron School of Business in 2014. I teach graduate and undergraduate courses primarily in health care management and leadership principles. I teach part time and work full time as a senior health care executive.
My 20-plus year background in health care includes experience in nursing homes, hospitals, home health and assisted living. I've worked in large and small health care companies in a variety of roles from CNA and administrator to vice president of a national health care company.

What types of projects can online students expect in your course?
We can expect to use a variety of learning approaches in my courses, because people learn in different ways. At this level, we will do a fair amount of reading, along with some writing assignments, case study analysis, video presentations, team projects with your classmates, and some quizzes and exams.
What do you want students to learn in these courses?
I am most interested in helping you learn material that you will find useful and practical in leading health care organizations. Each student comes with meaningful experience in the health care or business environment, so I hope and expect that everyone will participate by providing relevant stories of your own. Everyone will learn more in this course when people share their experience.
Why did you start teaching?
I love to teach! I have enjoyed a great deal of success and personal satisfaction in running health care companies, and I want to give back to my students the benefit of principles I have learned. I often include personal experiences that relate to the topics we discuss in class.
What advice would you give to those considering this online program?
I have found that independent learners do best when they consistently set aside specific weekly "class times" for themselves. I recommend they put them on a calendar and protect those times from other commitments and distractions. Be prepared to give up some personal interests to get the most out of this MBA program. Also, find a place to study that works for your personal situation, but allows you reasonable quiet time to focus on your studies.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know.
I was raised in Seattle and have lived and worked in Arkansas and North Carolina. I'm married to a kindergarten teacher, and we have two children. I'm also a professional DJ on the side. I like my classic rock loud. I love to run, and I have completed a dozen endurance races.
